Atelier des Lumières, a fascinating new digital art centre in Paris

It opened its doors on Friday, April 13th, 2018 and already the Atelier des Lumières (Workshop of Lights) has become the talk of Paris. The capital’s first digital art centre is housed in a former smelting plant dating from the 19th century, an unusual setting offering visitors a magical journey through the works of great artists projected onto the walls, floors and ceilings, while specially chosen music plays. The Atelier des Lumières offers a wealth of immersive exhibitions

The Atelier des Lumières is the first digital art centre to be established in Paris and is a place of wonder. Imagine entering an enchanted world in which the works of the greatest artists of all time are projected all around you so you can seemingly walk through them. This 2000 m2 centre uses state-of-the-art technology, including 140 video projectors and a 50-speaker sound system to ensure that your immersion in sound and vision is total. It’s the ideal way to discover or rediscover paintings by famous artists and study them in depth and detail.

The Atelier des Lumières, a multi-faceted attraction

A little further in, you can get comfortable on a wooden stool to admire the 10-metre high wall projections.
After exploring this world poised on the border between the digital world and artistic works, you’ll be ready to relax in the café with a drink and a pastry. This will also be an opportunity to discover the installation created by the digital design studio OUCHH, which has compiled no less than 20 million different scientific words into an original work.
